Lam Dong Accelerates Urban and Rural Planning Reforms

11/11/2025

In the wake of the Urban and Rural Planning Law 2024 taking full effect, Lam Dong Province is launching a comprehensive overhaul of its planning framework to meet evolving development needs. According to the provincial People's Committee, the Department of Construction is spearheading efforts to review, assess, and optimize urban, rural, and functional zoning plans, ensuring seamless integration and maximum efficiency.

Top priority is the revision of the General Plan for Da Lat City and its surrounding areas through 2045, which will chart a long-term strategic blueprint for the central hub. Beyond Da Lat, the province is advancing general urban planning for adjacent wards. Key tourism zones are also receiving focused attention: the national Tuyen Lam Lake Resort and Sa Pung Mountain - Bao Loc Resort are being fast-tracked, despite hurdles from overlapping mineral resource plans. In rural areas, communes are urged to proactively update their plans to align with local socio-economic realities, guided by the Ministry of Construction.

Despite challenges such as funding shortages, limited manpower, and complex legal procedures, Lam Dong is committed to ramping up oversight to overcome obstacles and drive sustainable growth. These initiatives not only address redundancies but also unlock the province's full potential in tourism and urbanization.
